The Commencement Ceremony for Somerset Community College is scheduled for Friday, May 10, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset, Kentucky. You should plan to arrive that evening at 6:45 p.m. in preparation for the ceremony. The Center for Rural Development is located across from the Somerset Campus at traffic light #15 off of South Highway 27. The rehearsal will begin at 11:00 a.m. on May 10, 2019 in the Exhibition Hall of the Center for Rural Development. You need to be present at rehearsal which will last approximately ninety minutes.
IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY, YOU MUST RESERVE YOUR SEAT BY APRIL 5, 2019, BY COMPLETING THE RESERVATION AT: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/scccommencement2019
Due to limited seating each graduate that reserves their seat indicating they will be participating in the Commencement Ceremony will be allotted a limited number of guest tickets. More information regarding the tickets will be sent to all participants at a later date. Guest with tickets will be seated on a first come first serve basis; however, tickets will not guarantee that you will be seated together. Guests with tickets will be seated in the Exhibition Hall to view the live Commencement Ceremony. Guests without tickets will be directed to The Center Theater to view the ceremony from a large screen.
Grad Fest (Cap and Gown)
As a summer 2018, fall 2018 or expected spring 2019 graduate, we invite you to participate in GRAD FEST 2019 – a day for us to celebrate – YOU!
Grad Fest at the SCC Somerset Campus will be held March 27 and at the SCC Laurel Campus March 28 from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm, followed by the Great Discussions Lecture Series Speaker, Jeremy A. Taylor, presenting “What’s Next: Moving Forward with Confidence & Excitement”.
We will have caps/gowns available to purchase ($39.98 + tax). You will also be able to reserve your seat for graduation, get help with your financial aid loan counseling, talk with transfer colleges, get information regarding career services and much more!
If you are not able to attend Grad Fest, please contact the SCC Laurel Campus Bookstore at (606) 878-4769 or the SCC Somerset Campus Bookstore at (606) 451-6900 to make other arrangements to purchase your cap/gown. Another service is also available for graduating students to order their cap/gown online. You may visit https://collegegrad.herffjones.com/ for more information and ordering instructions. Only students receiving a degree or diploma are eligible to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
