On-Site NLN Exam Instructions

For Students wanting to take the NLN PAX (Pre-Admission Exam) On-Site, the cost of the exam is $52.50.  

How to Create Your NLN Account

New web address: www.NLNTEST.org 

The NLN Assessment Services Portal moved in September of 2020. If you have tested with us since then, please DO NOT CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT. If you have forgotten your password, go to the login page and click on reset password. If you have forgotten your username, contact NLN support 800-732-8656 Ext #2.

If you have not tested with us since the transition you will need to create a NEW NLN account.

Steps To Create Your New Account

  1. Log into www.NLNTEST.org
  2. Enter Username (we recommend using your email address)
  3. Enter Email Address
  4. Choose Your Institution
  5. Enter First and Last Name
  6. Enter Date of Birth
  7. Enter City, State and Phone Number
  8. Click on Create New Account
  9. You will then receive a link via email to the address you provided asking you to reset your password. While you are here please verify your time zone. What is Your Time Zone? This setting can be the difference between making your institutions deadline and not making it.
  10. Hit Save

Steps for Students to REGISTER AND PAY for an On-Site Exam using the NLN Portal:

  1. Sign into your NLN account
  2. Go to Register for Exam
  3. Leave all fields BLANK except SITE
  4. Delete contents of the Site Field and re-enter institution name.
    • Somerset Community College – London or Somerset Community College – Somerset Hit Apply
  5. Select the Event Date you want to register for – Click to register
  6. Verify the correct exam is showing and hit SAVE REGISTRATION

It will then take you to the page where you will verify the test you want to register for – if correct, proceed to checkout.  If incorrect, make changes, update cart and then checkout.

You must complete the checkout by purchasing your exam with a credit card.  Upon completion you will receive an e-mail confirmation of your scheduled exam.

Day Of Exam

  • Arrive a few minutes early, well rested and focused
  • You will need to have a non-expired Government Issued Photo ID
  • You will need to bring a Calculator
  • Your NLN Log In and Password

Accessing your PAX Score reports:

Pre-Admission Exam (PAX) Results

Pre-Admission (PAX) scores will take up to 4 hours to show up in your results tab.

  1. Click the My Results tab
  2. Select NLN Student Reports
  3. Select Participant Report from the next screen
  4. Choose a date & time
  5. Click Run Report

The Composite Score is a statistical calculation for the combined three sections.

The Percent Score is the number of test items answered correctly/total # of test items.

The SEM (Standard error of measurement) is a statistical score that indicates the expected average change in your score if you immediately re-tested. 

The Percentile Rank is a comparison of your score to the norm sampling group of students.
