
Peer Mentors
A Peer Mentor will:
- Respect your privacy
- Keep a professional distance
- Help you settle into college
- Improve communication between you and SCC staff
- Support you if you feel isolated or lack confidence
- Assist with adapting to new environments and technologies
- Recognize and affirm your skills
- Guide you on career paths and opportunities
- Provide constructive feedback
- Help you manage time, plan work, set goals, and understand your tasks
A Peer Mentor is not:
- An instructor
- An academic advisor
- A social worker
A Peer Mentor will not:
- Do your work for you
- Give personal advice
- Take advantage of you
- Be overly familiar with you
