Advice for new Pathfinders: For those who are just starting their journey at SCC, I want to let you know that we are all one big family here. We truly mean it when we say we are here to support you in any way possible.
The SCC experience was priceless for me. Not only did I learn a lot, but I also gained a family and support system that I'll cherish forever. I hope to be able to help every student I encounter have that same experience.
If you are looking for a scenic spot to relax and unwind on the SCC Laurel Campus, I highly recommend sitting outside the Learning Commons at Building 2 downstairs. You will be able to soak up some sunshine and even catch a glimpse of some ducks swimming in the pond. It is just stunning!
My husband and I have 7 kids together, 6 girls and 1 boy, I have 4 bonus kids, and 3 of my own. Their ages are 19 @ SCC for Esthetics, 18 @ WKU for Engineering, 16, 14, 11, 8 and 3. Can you guess which one the 3-year-old is?? The BOY yep you guessed it. Lots of girls in my house! One spoiled little boy!
If I can get a degree, you can too! Associate in Arts Degree with a Certificate in Social Media Marketing from SCC in 2024. Transferred to Morehead State University via the University Center at the Laurel campus. I am currently completing a Bachelor’s in University Studies & Community Support Services.”

“What I enjoy most about my job is helping people move past their barriers and reach their full potential. I also love being there for our dual credit students.
I am from all over. My hometown is Manchester, KY, but I was raised primarily through high school in Frankfort, KY. I now reside in McCreary County.
My educational background includes attending Western Hills High School in Frankfort, KY through my freshman year, then transferring to Clay Co High School in my hometown where I received my GED in 1999. I completed my associate degree in Arts from Somerset Community College and then went through The Transfer Center to enroll at Western Kentucky University where I am currently enrolled in their Organizational Leadership Program and set to Graduate in December 2024.
Somerset Community College is extremely near and dear to my heart. I was a work-study for several years when I started my education and grew to love everything about the College. Class sizes were always great, small classes meant better instruction. I also love the fact that everyone feels like family.
I have been in this position since November 2022.
The best way to get a hold of me is by text at (606) 872-9273.
Advice for New Pathfinders: Take your time getting started. Figure out what you want to do while you are here!
The SCC experience gave me the chance to get an education while working full-time and being a full-time mom. I was able to schedule classes around my personal life to finish my degree and continue to move forward.
My favorite spot is in the center of all the buildings on Somerset’s Campus, where the globe is. No matter what season it is, there is so much beauty there and a feeling of peace that always greets me like I am at home.”
