What's With the ***?

Great question!

The first * is the KCTCS BuildSmart Investment for Kentucky Competitiveness fee. This fee does not apply to Dual Credit Students.

+For students who are enrolled in online-only courses, the tuition is the same regardless of your residency. Other fees, such as the mandatory fee and a distance learning course fee of $20/credit hour still apply.

1 Cost of attendance estimates are based upon student's expected living arrangements and assume full-time enrollment (12 credit hours each semester).
2 Estimated Indirect Costs are NOT amounts that will be charged to the student's account at the college, but are average amounts that a student could expect to incur during periods of enrollment.
3 Some programs of study prepare students for work in a profession that requires licensure to be employed in your state. The cost of obtaining licensure varies by profession and by the state in which the license is obtained. You can find a list of academic programs leading to state licensure at Licensure Disclosures.

These are estimated values used to calculate eligibility for financial aid funds and are updated annually.

Summer 2024 Tuition Payment Deadlines

Tuition and fees for the 4-week, 6-week, and 12-week sessions (classes starting on May 13, 2024) must be paid in full or payment arrangements must be on file before midnight on May 12, 2024.

Tuition and fees for the 8-week session (classes starting on June 10, 2024) must be paid in full or payment arrangements must be on file before midnight on June 9, 2024.

Tuition and fees for the second 6-week session (classes starting on June 24, 2024) must be paid in full or payment arrangements must be on file before midnight on June 23, 2024.

Students who have registered for classes, but have not met one of the tuition payment options by the due dates listed above, will have their registration cancelled. Check out our Payment Options below. If cancellation occurs, and student requests reinstatement of classes, a $75 reinstatement charge will be applied to the student account.

Payment Options

  • Pay in full through Student Self Service.
  • Sign up for an automatic payment plan through Student Self Service,
  • Defer tuition/fees to financial aid, if Somerset Community College has verified your eligibility for federal student financial aid
  • Submit a Third Party Billing Authorization to the Third Party Coordinator, or 
  • Submit verification of an outside scholarship to cover tuition and fees to the Scholarship Coordinator in the Financial Aid Office.

NOTE: If students decide not to attend their classes, it is their responsibility to drop them. Students are responsible for the payment of tuition and fees for all courses not dropped during the first 100% refund period (See Academic Calendar), regardless of whether or not the student chooses to attend the class. If you decide not to attend, please do not rely on the "registration cancellation for non-payment" process as a way to drop your classes.
