Dr. Ron Meade

Dr. Ron MeadeDr. Ron Meade is a licensed physical therapist and award-winning educator. He is a graduate of Somerset Community College and holds degrees in marketing, health science, and physical therapy from the University of Kentucky and a doctorate degree from Shenandoah University.

Dr. Meade was responsible for transforming a physical therapy educational program into a regional and national model of excellence, with many local, state, and national student and program recognitions. He was recognized as the top physical therapy educator in Kentucky as the recipient of the David A. Pariser Award in 2021 and the top educator within the Kentucky Community & Technical College System as the New Horizons Award recipient in 2014. In 2021, he was named the F. A. Davis Award recipient, reserved for the top physical therapy educator in the United States, as awarded by the American Physical Therapy Association. He has also been recognized for his efforts in writing the national physical therapy board examination by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy, for his fundraising efforts for physical therapy research by the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research, and for his service to the physical therapy profession by the Kentucky Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Meade presently serves on the Board of Trustees for Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and on the Board of Directors for the Southern Kentucky Area Health Education Center.

Dr. Meade presently serves as the Dean of Health Sciences, where he oversees the day-to-day administrative and accreditation processes for twelve healthcare programs and is responsible for the development of new ones, and as Interim Provost at Somerset Community College. It is noteworthy that the Health Sciences Division has experienced significant growth during his tenure as Dean. He devotes his time and energy to various charitable causes, hiking across Kentucky, traveling, and renovating his home, built in the 1800s.
