Kimberly Greene Steps Into New Role as Career Services Counselor at SCC

Kimberly GreeneSomerset Community College (SCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly Greene as Career Services Counselor and Student Ambassador Coordinator. With a background in human resources and 15 years of experience at SCC, Greene brings a wealth of expertise to her new role.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky with a BA in Integrated Strategic Communication and holding an MS in Human Resources and Organization Development from the University of Louisville, Greene’s career has been closely tied to supporting student and staff success at SCC. During her time with SCC’s Human Resources department, she also served a three-year term as a staff representative on the KCTCS Board of Regents.

In her new role, Greene will manage Career Services, helping students discover their strengths, explore career options, and map out academic programs that align with their career goals. She will provide career counseling, host workshops, and offer one-on-one support for resume building, interview preparation, job search strategies, and networking. Additionally, Greene will coordinate job fairs and work closely with local businesses to connect students and alumni with employment opportunities.

“I am excited to begin this new phase of my career at Somerset Community College,” said Greene. “I believe in the mission of SCC and our state’s community and technical colleges. Whether someone is a first-time job seeker or returning to the workforce, Career Services can help them find a path forward. My goal is to help students discover their strengths and provide them with the tools they need to be successful.”

In addition to her career services responsibilities, Greene will oversee SCC’s Student Ambassador Program, a unique opportunity for students to develop communication skills, network, and build their resumes while representing the college at events.

Greene emphasized the importance of SCC’s partnerships with local businesses, stating, “I look forward to working with our community and business partners. SCC’s employer relationships are foundational to the local economy and vital to strengthening our regional workforce.”

Tracy Casada, SCC’s Chief Student Affairs Officer, expressed excitement about Greene’s new role, noting her ability to foster student success and promote strong community relationships. “Kimberly’s background and passion for student development make her an excellent fit for this role. She will be instrumental in ensuring that SCC students are well-prepared for their future careers,” said Casada.

Career Services at SCC is available to current students as well as alumni, offering a holistic approach to career planning that includes collaboration with academic advisors, deans, and SCC’s University Center of Southern Kentucky (UCSK). The goal is to not only connect students with employers but to guide them throughout their educational journey.
