VA Benefits Request Form

Request for Certification of Veteran Benefits

Log in to your student self-service to complete your request.

  1. Go to MyPath.
  2. Log in.
  3. Click Student Self-Service.
  4. Click the Academic Records Tile.
  5. Click the VA Enrollment Form.
  6. Complete and submit the VA Enrollment Form.
  7. A pop-up message will appear once you have completed the form and your request has been sent to your Certifying Official at Somerset Community College.

Requirements each semester

Each semester you must submit your VA Benefits Request Form through your student self-service. Once your request has been completed, we will be able to certify the credit hours with Veteran Affairs to process your monthly benefits. It is the student’s responsibility to submit the request through their student self-service.

VA will only approve the courses required for the certificate/diploma/degree you are pursuing.

Chapter 33 Post/911 veterans will need to confirm their enrollment each month via text with Veteran Affairs. If you have not signed up for text, please call 1-888-442-4551 to opt in. Within 24 hours, you will receive a text confirming you have opted in. (You don’t need to opt in again for the future terms unless you change your mobile phone number). On the last day of each month, while attending college, you will receive a text message requesting enrollment verification from you for that month.

Change program

Anyone receiving VA Benefits at SCC who intends to undergo a change of program must talk to their advisor first. When filling out your VA Benefits Request Form, including the new major you are seeking. Your advisor will give you instructions on how to change your major on your student self-service for the college.
