SCC Honored Two Benefactor Awards Recipients at KCTCS President's Gala

The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) recently hosted the 15th annual Presidents Gala and Benefactors Awards Dinner at the Lexington Center. At the event, leaders from Somerset Community College (SCC) honored the Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce and Clay Parker Davis as the 2014 Benefactors of the Year.

More than 600 state and local dignitaries from across the Commonwealth attended the event, which provides an opportunity for all KCTCS colleges to honor states leading individuals, business and foundations for their generous philanthropic and voluntary support.

The Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce was honored because of their commitment to education and by financially supporting scholarships for Pulaski County residents to attend SCC. Since 2011, the chamber has annually hosted a holiday auction in support of six scholarships given to new graduates from the four Pulaski County high schools.

Clay Parker Davis was honored by Somerset Community College because of his many years of service to SCC through corporate and private giving. He is currently serving as Vice Chair of the SCC Board of Directors and he was one of the founding members of the SCC Foundation, serving as Chair of the SCC Foundation from 2006-2012.

A total of thirty-one benefactors including individuals, corporations and organizations, were honored for their contributions, partnerships and support of KCTCS and the sixteen community colleges across the state.
