SCC announces new endowed scholarship for Wayne County students

The family of the late Conley H. Gregory has established the Conley H. Gregory Memorial Endowed Scholarship to support Wayne County students enrolled in a technical or health sciences program at Somerset Community College (SCC).

Conley Gregory began his career in the construction industry as a teenager. In 1982, he and his wife, Joanna, founded their own construction business. What started as a one-man operation grew through hard work, determination, and prayers, into a thriving company that expanded from a single truck into a respected business that has made a lasting impact on Wayne County through numerous construction projects.

Beyond his professional success, Gregory was deeply committed to serving his community. He dedicated many years to organizations including Wayne County Hospital, the Wayne County Industrial Foundation, the Industrial Development Authority, the Wayne County Republican Party, and the Lincoln Club. His legacy of leadership, service, and generosity continues to live on through his family, friends, and the many lives he touched.

Gregory’s daughter, Sara Beth Gregory commented, “My dad always appreciated the value of hard work and education, and he especially loved to see young people going into technical and healthcare fields. The opportunity to partner with Somerset Community College in creating this scholarship is a wonderful way to honor his memory.”

The Conley H. Gregory Memorial Endowed Scholarship will provide ongoing financial assistance to eligible Wayne County students pursuing careers in high-demand technical and healthcare fields.
