Samuel Curry and Travis Curry.SCC hosted a special guest after learning that rally racing is coming to Kentucky, opening unique opportunities for students to put their technical skills into action. This week, students from a variety of technical programs, including welding, automotive technology, HVAC, IMT and electrical, got an exclusive look at a world-class rally car thanks to a special visit from internationally renowned driver Javier Castro.

Castro, originally from Argentina and racing an Audi A1 Maxx not available in the US, inspired SCC students by demonstrating how their classroom skills directly translate to the fast-paced world of motorsports. From custom fabrication to advanced wiring, technical know-how is the backbone of every successful racing team.

SCC students and community members gather to get an up-close look at Castro's rally car."We want to empower our students to see the real-world impact of their education," said SCC Laurel Campus Director Travis McQueen "Rally racing is not only thrilling to watch, but it also offers hands-on career opportunities for those with the right technical background."

Whether you’re interested in building, maintaining, or optimizing high-performance vehicles, the skills you’re developing at SCC could launch you into the world of professional motorsports.
