Garland, of London, is now a candidate for the Division’s Student of the Year Award, to be announced in May 2026. This honor recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding commitment, leadership, and academic achievement.

Originally from Manchester, Kentucky, Garland, is a 2020 graduate of Clay County High School. She chose the Pharmacy Technology Program because it offered a pathway to a career where she can make a meaningful impact, continue learning, and contribute to something greater than herself.

She describes her experience in the program as extremely rewarding, citing the valuable knowledge gained and the strong relationships she has built with fellow students and faculty.

Garland noted the friends and family who have supported her through her SCC educational journey and extends special thanks to her husband, Justin, her mother, Angela Gray, and her sister, Caleigh Combs, for their continued support.

Pharmacy Technology Program Coordinator Lorrenda Merritt notes that Ashleigh has demonstrated exceptional leadership in the classroom and serves as a role model for her peers. She is eager to learn, open to feedback, and consistently exemplifies the ethical and compassionate behaviors essential for patient care in the pharmacy profession.

Ashleigh is currently completing her clinical rotation at Baptist Health Corbin, where she is expanding her skills in an advanced practice setting. She is on track to graduate from the Advanced Pharmacy Technology Program in May.

The SCC Pharmacy Technology Program is committed to preparing students for successful careers in healthcare, equipping graduates with the knowledge, skills, and professionalism needed to thrive in diverse pharmacy settings.
