From stage to classroom: SCC Clinton instructor passionately shares cosmetology with the next generation
Published on Dec 1, 2025
Somerset Community College (SCC) proudly announces that alumna Jackie Humble has joined
the cosmetology program at the Clinton Center as its newest instructor. With a robust
background and extensive experience in the cosmetology industry, Jackie is committed
to empowering the next generation of cosmetologists in southeastern Kentucky.
Jackie’s impressive career includes work on hair and makeup for the television show Say Yes to the Dress: Prom Edition, as well as styling the hair of actress Aubrey Peeples, known for her roles in Nashville and Jem and the Holograms. She has also collaborated with Matrix global artists such as Christopher Benson, Leah Star, Lenny Strand, Michelle O’Connor, Delik Taylor, and Sam Villa, further solidifying her status as a leader in the field.
Her work has been featured in Hair magazine, and she has showcased her skills on stage
at the National Hair Show in Orlando, excelling in model preparation, editorial work,
and consumer engagement. She has also styled hair at the CMA Awards. With valuable
insights gained from experiences on both the creative and business sides of the industry,
Jackie is poised to offer an enriched learning experience to her students.
Although her cosmetology journey began at Somerset Community College, where she is an alumna, Jackie first stepped into education at the JCPenney Salon in Somerset. Her growth within the franchise led to her appointment as regional educator for more than 25 salons across West Virginia, Missouri, Iowa and Illinois.
After welcoming children into her life, Jackie chose to slow down her travel schedule. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, she realized how much she missed teaching and felt called back to education.
“I missed educating and helping people grow,” Jackie shared. “It felt right to move in the direction of influencing the next generation of stylists.”
Returning to SCC, Jackie obtained her teaching license and embraced her new role behind the chair in a fresh and meaningful way, grateful for the many mentors who have shaped her career.
From the age of eight, Jackie knew she wanted to dedicate her life to bringing out the beauty in others. Whether it was giving her neighbor a Whitney Houston–inspired haircut as a child or stepping onto the big stage, every experience has led her to the instructor’s seat at SCC.
Since beginning her teaching journey in August, Jackie has found the role incredibly fulfilling.
“I forgot how education makes me feel,” she expressed. “My students are eager for knowledge and skills, coming from all walks of life. Helping to provide the tools they need to be successful and making education accessible feeds my soul.”
