Jordan Crozier, a Human and Social Services student named SCC Health Sciences division Student of the Month
Published on Jul 2, 2025
A standout student from Somerset Community College (SCC) has been honored as the Health
Sciences Division’s Student of the Month for July. Jordan Crozier, who is currently
enrolled in the newly established Human and Social Services Program, has earned this
prestigious recognition and is now a candidate for the Division’s Student of the Year
award, to be announced in May 2026.
The Human and Social Services Program at SCC equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary for successful careers in social, community, educational, and mental health services. The program combines human services courses, general education, and technical training, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for entry-level positions. In addition to the degree offerings, SCC is now approved to provide short-term certificate programs in aging services, client services coordination, direct support work, psychiatric mental health technician training, and recovery coaching.
Jordan Crozier's remarkable achievements extend beyond her academics. A former contestant representing Kentucky at the Miss Teen USA Pageant in 2018, she has also earned a spot on the President’s List for maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA during the 2025 semester. Her nomination for the Student of the Month award came from Admissions Counselor Amy Caldwell, and the accolade was presented by Dr. Ron Meade, Dean of Health Sciences. “Jordan is an inspiration to those who have faced personal challenges and serves as a beacon of positivity,” stated Dr. Meade. “Her life experiences will undoubtedly empower her as a strong advocate for those she aims to serve in her future career.”
In her own words, Crozier shares her aspirations: “I hope to become a therapist or social worker, focusing on helping children with limited means and support systems. My goal is to be a role model as someone who has been there.” She also highlights her positive experience at SCC: “The college is affordable and has been instrumental in helping me achieve my goals. The staff has been incredibly supportive.”
Jordan credits her success to the extensive support network in Somerset that has stood by her throughout her journey. After working for six months as a peer support specialist at Lake Cumberland Recovery, she plans to transfer to Lindsey Wilson College to pursue a master's degree in counseling.
