SCC announces Will Schuler, Health Sciences Student of the Month for June
Published on Jun 10, 2025
Will Schuler has been recognized at Somerset Community College (SCC) as a dedicated
student in the Health Science Technology Program and has been named the SCC Health
Sciences Division’s Student of the Month for June. Recently admitted to the college’s
Practical Nursing Program, Schuler is now a candidate for the annual Student of the
Year award, which will be announced in May 2026.
The Health Science Technology Program at SCC is specifically designed to prepare students for dynamic entry-level careers in healthcare and health-related services. It offers students with a passion for healthcare an opportunity to explore various career options, whether they are seeking their first job or looking to enhance their skills for career advancement. Students complete a degree that includes three or more distinct health-related certificate programs, including emergency medical technician, nurse aide, pharmacy technician, and phlebotomy, paving the way for multiple roles within healthcare institutions.
A competitive bodybuilder, Schuler was recently celebrated at SCC’s 2025 Honors Night for his outstanding leadership in anatomy and physiology courses. He was nominated for this honor by Professor Kelly Johnson, who praised his willingness to support his peers: “Will consistently went above and beyond to help fellow students, particularly those who were new to college or uncertain about navigating the lab components of the course. His dedication to his classmates clearly reflects the compassion and expertise he will bring to his future patients,” Johnson said.
Expressing his gratitude, Schuler stated, “I have had such a wonderful experience at SCC. The faculty and staff have supported me immensely and created a positive learning environment. I would absolutely recommend SCC to other students.”
In addition to his studies, Schuler is a devoted family man, married to Tiffany Schuler and the proud father of three children—Cole, Eli, and Rory. He has already obtained a nurse aide certification at SCC and is on track to complete the Practical Nursing Program by June 2026. Following this achievement, Schuler plans to enroll in SCC’s bridge program to pursue an associate degree in nursing.
