Josh Branscum delivering an inspiring keynote address at the Going Pro eventOn Tuesday, Somerset Community College (SCC) proudly hosted the "Going Pro" event at the Somerset Campus, a significant milestone that marked the achievements of students ready to transition into their professional careers. As May graduation approaches, students celebrated signing contracts with their future employers—an important step in their academic and professional journeys.

During the event, Kentucky State Representative and President of Branscum Construction, Josh Branscum, delivered an inspiring keynote address. He emphasized these future professionals' vital role in making Kentucky great and positively influencing their communities.

Branscum shared a thought-provoking saying: “There are three types of people: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who don’t know what happens.” He commended the students signing with employers, noting their commitment to be part of the first group, and encouraged them to uphold integrity in their new roles.

The "Going Pro" event showcased the crucial partnership between SCC and local businesses, illustrating how these collaborations enhance the students' prospects and the communities they will serve.

The "Going Pro" event not only celebrated the students’ hard work and dedication but also highlighted the invaluable connections between SCC and our community partners.

"By collaborating closely with our community partners, we are excited to cultivate skilled professionals dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of our region," stated Dr. Carey Castle, President and CEO of SCC. “This event celebrates this accomplishment.”
