Published on Feb 28, 2025

On Friday, February 21, nine exemplary students from Somerset Community College (SCC) celebrated their induction into the Somerset Associate Chapter of Sigma Zeta, a prestigious national undergraduate honor society.

Founded in 1925, Sigma Zeta aims to foster academic excellence in the fields of natural sciences, computer science, and mathematics, recognizing the achievements of students who display outstanding skills in these disciplines.

The associate chapter at SCC, initially established in 1997, has recently been re-activated to honor the academic accomplishments of the college's dedicated students. To qualify for membership, students must meet specific eligibility requirements, including completing at least 25 semester hours toward a degree with an overall GPA of 3.0, along with 15 semester hours of major-level coursework in either natural sciences or mathematics.
The new inductees are SCC students graduating in May who plan to attend the listed four-year institutions to further their studies.
