SCC students are “Going Pro:” Signing on to careers with exceptional Kentucky companies

A crucial tool in Kentucky’s efforts to combat a national workforce shortage, SCC is celebrating soon-to-be graduates who are investing in their futures and the commonwealth's future during Community College Month.

As Kentucky’s economy continues to grow, more students and businesses are partnering with SCC to upskill and train future generations of workforce leaders. In the past year alone, SCC has supported more than 2,800 jobs in Kentucky and has graduated more than 900 students in key sectors, including healthcare, skilled trades, manufacturing, logistics, and business services.

SCC President Dr. Carey Castle remarked, “As Kentucky faces workforce shortages in critical sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, business and professional services, we are proud of the students we honored today who are filling these gaps with their specialized skills and knowledge.” 

Chris Girdler, President and CEO of SPEDA, delivered the keynote speech at the event, commending the collaboration between SCC and industry partners aimed at providing skilled workers for the future workforce. He also praised the students for their hard work and dedication and congratulated them on their accomplishments.
