    Open Auditions for Somerset Community College’s 2nd Annual Short Play Festival

    SCC Theatre & Film logoSomerset Community College (SCC) Department of Theatre & Film is excited to announce open auditions for the 2nd Annual Ten Minute and Short Play Festival. We welcome all community members, students, faculty, and friends to participate.

    Audition Details

    Auditions will take place at the Stoner Little Theatre on the Somerset Community College North Campus, located at 808 Monticello St, Somerset, Kentucky 42501. The schedule is as follows:

    • Thursday, January 25: 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
    • Friday, January 26: 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
    • Saturday, January 27: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

    About the Festival

    Launched in Spring 2023, the Ten Minute and Short Play Festival aims to spotlight local talent in Somerset, Kentucky. It provides a platform for new actors to perform accessible material. This year’s selection of short plays covers a range of topics, including religion, ghost stories, love, and even Bigfoot (or the Woods Booger).

    Audition Preparation

    Actors are asked to prepare a 60-second monologue demonstrating their stage presence and acting range. If you don't have a prepared monologue, selections from the play will be provided for a "cold read" to showcase your acting ability. Obtain these selections from SCC North Campus, Stoner 104c, along with your audition packet.

    Please bring a headshot, a 50-word biography, and an acting resume if available. You will be asked to fill out a contact form and conflict sheet at your audition. We primarily contact actors via email, so please provide an email address that you check regularly.

    Festival Dates

    The 2nd Annual Ten Minute and Short Play Festival will take place on March 28, 29, and 30.

    Additional Information

    If you’re interested in auditioning, you can pick up an audition packet and script selections from SCC Stoner 104c. Alternatively, you can simply attend the auditions and we will provide a packet for you.

    For those interested in available crew positions, interviews will be conducted during the audition dates. If you’re interested in auditioning but cannot attend on the scheduled dates, please contact Thomas Alvey to arrange an alternate audition date before January 24.
