SCC gives back this holiday season with Angel Tree Community ProjectAs the festive season unfolds, Somerset Community College (SCC) is once again at the forefront of giving back through our cherished Circle of Love Angel Tree Initiative. A team comprised of 12 dedicated individuals from SCC, this annual project aims to rally the college community to purchase gifts for children from families that might otherwise miss out on a full Christmas experience.

This year, the SCC team extended its generous reach, touching the lives of 69 children—61 from the Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) and an additional eight children of SCC Skills program students. The overwhelming success of this initiative is a testament to the collaborative spirit within the SCC community.

George Martinez, reflecting on the community effort, shared, "The support was phenomenal, with over 40 sponsors, including 'teams of individuals' from various groups such as SGA, Active Minds, OHBC Ladies Group, Institutional Effectiveness, Admissions, Health Sciences, and more."

Creativity and compassion were in full swing this season, as SCC students, faculty, and staff actively participated by contributing monetary donations, providing items for silent auctions, and making thoughtful purchases. The Angel Tree initiative is just one of the ways SCC demonstrated its commitment to serving the community, fostering a sense of togetherness and warmth during the holiday season.
