charolette leisThe Charolette Leis MLT Scholarship was established in memory of Mrs. Leis, who was a longtime resident of Russell Springs.  A graduate of the MLT Program at Somerset Community College, Mrs. Leis served as the Laboratory Manager of Cumberland Medical Laboratories and was associated with SCC in training students for the program from 1980 to 2017.  Upon her passing in July, 2017, a memorial scholarship was started by her friend and former co-worker, Lula Winchester, with deep appreciation for Mrs. Leis’ friendship, professionalism and dedication, and for her caring and loving heart.  The scholarship is also greatly supported by Mrs. Leis’ loving husband of 38 years, Gary Leis.  To make a tax deductible donation to the scholarship, please contact Gary at 270-866-0599 or Cindy Clouse, Chief Institutional Advancement Officer at (606) 451-6618 or cindy.clouse@kctcs.edu.

The first Charolette Leis MLT Scholarship will be awarded for the spring 2018 semester to a second year student in the Medical Laboratory Technician Program.  Anyone interested in applying for this or other SCC scholarships, visit: Somerset.kctcs.edu/scholarships, or contact J.R.
