Free English as a Second Language (ESL) class offered at SCC

Sep 14, 2017

Somerset Community College is partnering with Somerset Independent Schools to offer a free English as a Second Language (ESL) course for the community. Classes are currently being held on Tuesday at 4 p.m. on the SCC Somerset Campus.

“Offering this ESL class to anyone who would like to improve their English-speaking skills is one way SCC is demonstrating our commitment to diversity,” said Elaine Wilson, director of cultural diversity at the college. “Likewise, we are planning to offer some conversational Spanish classes to our faculty and staff, and possibly the community, later this year. Understanding each other is imperative to the success of our community, both professionally and personally.”

The ESL class at SCC is being led by Dr. Diana Baker, a certified ESL instructor. Classes take place every Tuesday from 4 to 5 p.m. on SCC’s Somerset North Campus in room 103 of the Cooper Building, located at 808 Monticello Street in Somerset. Classes will be held weekly through November 28. No registration is required. For more information, contact Wilson at (606) 451-6915.
