About

The foundation was chartered April 3, 2006 as the Somerset Community College Foundation, Inc. and is a separate and independent 501(c)(3) fund-raising organization to support SCC. On November 30, 2017, SCC and the Foundation entered into a new Memorandum of Understanding through which the Foundation became the official private fund-raising arm of the College.

 

Mission and Vision

The Somerset Community College Foundation, Inc. serves as the officially-recognized, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) fund-raising arm of Somerset Community College. The federal tax identification number of the Foundation is 27-0137175. Under the guidance of an independent Board of Directors, the primary purposes of the SCC Foundation, Inc. include:

  • Advance the vision, mission, goals, and objectives of SCC,
  • Catalyst for the private-sector resource development programs and activities of SCC.
  • Raise private funds for college-wide initiatives and needs.
  • Provide guidance for the management and investment of private funds.
  • Friend-raiser and advocate for SCC.
  • Counselor and advisor to the SCC president.

Leadership

The Somerset Community College Foundation is led by a local board of directors and is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The SCC Foundation provides fiduciary oversight and management, allowing 100% of donated funds to go directly to SCC to support students and programs not funded through traditional sources.
