Continuing Education for License Holders

The Office of Workforce Solutions provides continuing education classes to meet the state licensing requirements in the following areas:


These courses meet the Kentucky license requirement for continuing education for Drinking Water Treatment Operators. Topics for this course are approved by the Department of Environmental Protection and give 12 hours of CE credit.

If you have both an Electrical Contractor license AND an HVAC license, this course is for you.  You can take one course and get credit for both and save a day of training.  This course meets the Kentucky license requirement for continuing education for electrical contractors AND HVAC.

Using data from the Kentucky Building and Residential code, state, and federal business law, this class will offer clarification and insight to the current business climate in Kentucky. The class will encourage all attendees to gain expertise in building code and a solid understanding of basic and advanced business practices. With these tools contractors will be empowered with the ability to succeed in business. Course Approval #HVACCEP-4L0006.

This course meets the Kentucky license requirement for continuing education for electrical contractors. This continuing education course offers an introduction to the various facets of establishing, operating, and owning an electrical contracting business. Topics covered include legal forms of business organizations, financial and accounting issues, risk management and insurance, marketing, production, and human resource requirements, OSHA Safety Regulations for skilled trades like Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC; Retirement planning and workman’s compensation issues. Quality management techniques will also be addressed.

NEW Course!!
  The 2014 National Electric Code is a massive document that was written and implemented by electrical professionals across the country. There were approximately 3,745 proposals and 1,625 public comments submitted for modifications to the 2014 edition of the NEC. With this information in mind, this class is designed to help the student navigate the code and gain an improved understanding of the codes intended purpose, while gaining insight into why the changes were made.

This continuing education course also offers a review of existing codes. Students will spend time discussing newly adopted code changes and state regulations concerning the electrical trade. It also includes OSHA safety regulations for the electrical trade, deep discussions on grounding and conductor sizing. Special installations such as pools, hot tubs, and some general knowledge on photovoltaic systems. This course will discuss the dangers of arc flash and arc blast. The materials used in this class includes literature and videos from the NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, Mark Shapiro and Mike Holt.
