SCC Associate Professor Nikki Ware is recognized for developing an award winning technology-rich, engaging and pedagogically sound course. She will also serve as the Faculty Fellow for SCC for the 2022-2023 academic yearSomerset Community College is proud to announce that Professor Nikki Ware was recognized by her peers with the Exemplary Course Program (ECP) Award. The ECP Award, presented by Anthology, recognizes faculty and course designers from schools, colleges, and universities around the world who develop engaging and innovative courses that represent the very best in technology and learning.

Sixty one upward bound students from Clinton, Pulaski, Russell and Wayne Counties and ten staff members had a fun filled educational week at the University of Kentucky.Somerset Community College (SCC) Upward Bound has been awarded a five-year grant totaling $2.976 million from the U.S. Department of Education to continue serving first-generation and/or low-income students in four area counties.

TTAI met with the four award recipients of the TTAI Community Workforce Development Scholarship established for students interested in pursuing a technical program at Somerset Community College. Four students from Pulaski County received the TTAI Community Workforce Development Scholarship to attend Somerset Community College (SCC) this fall.

Dean's list spring 2022Somerset Community College is proud to announce the names of those students named to the Dean's List for the spring 2022 semester. The spring semester concluded in May, and 551 students were named to the list.

Shaina Nicole Brown has been awarded the Elwanda Brinkley Scholarship to attend Somerset Community College (SCC). Brown is a 2022 graduate of Clinton County High School where she participated in the band and the Senior Beta Club. She also sings and plays the flute at the Gospel Independent Baptist Church. Brown is the daughter of Ricky Vance Brown and Reta Gay Brown of Albany, KY. Bobbi Brooke Lovell has been awarded the Randall and Victoria Weddle Scholarship to attend SCC. Lovell is a 2022 Rockcastle County High School graduate and plans to pursue a Criminal Justice degree.

EKU and SCC officials announced an agreement to provide an ADN Nursing program at the EKU campus in Manchester, KY. Governor Andy Beshear and Dr. Aaron Thompson, Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education President were also present to share their support and backing of this partnership.Creating an educational pathway to address the dire need for nurses in the Commonwealth, Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) and Somerset Community College (SCC) announced an agreement yesterday that will create opportunities for students in the Manchester, Ky., area to earn an Associate Degree in Nursing at the EKU Manchester campus.

In his job with Eastman Chemical Company, Joshua Hayes, is working to solve the issues of waste plastics through revolutionary recycling technology. But it's his understanding of Somerset Community College (SCC) that brings him to the podium as the college's 2022 commencement speaker. SCC will hold graduation ceremonies on Friday, May 6, at The Center For Rural Development. Commencement exercises will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST, and SCC's Alum Josh Hayes will be the keynote speaker.

And while this camaraderie makes the gatherings fun, what brings them together is something a bit more academic--math and science.

SCC Phi Theta Kappa society induction ceremony group photoOver its first 53 years in service to the students of Somerset Community College (SCC), the Omicron Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society was nothing if not consistent, bringing new, high-achieving students into the fold twice a year every year through the first two months of 2020. But as with most organizations and institutions across the country, Omicron Zeta saw its operations derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic beginning in March of that year.
