Worldwide Equipment acquires new engines for SCC Diesel Technology program

Worldwide Equipment, a dealer for Volvo/Mack North America, recently acquired 2 new 2010 EPA compliant engines for the SCC Diesel Technology Program. The new engines, a Mack MP8 and a Volvo DP7, meet the 2010 emission regulations and are currently installed in 2010 Volvo and Mack trucks.

Jake McPheron and Ricky Harris, Somerset Diesel Technology Instructors, underwent an extensive training class on the new Mack/Volvo technology for emissions this summer and after several requests for new engines, found eager partners with Worldwide Equipment. They are the dealer for Mack and Volvo trucks headquartered in North Carolina and as a joint venture decided to donate these new engines to the program. McPheron commented on the donation, We are excited that we have this donation that will allow students to learn with current equipment and all the latest operating systems for engines. These engines are complete with wiring, all the emission controls, intakes, exhausts, fuel systems and new internal designs.

This will enable the program additional training for emissions that meet 2010 EPA guidelines. Due to having the newest technology in the design of the engines the students will be better prepared to enter the workplace. The engines will be shared with other KCTCS diesel programs so they can offer all KCTCS students the leading edge in diesel engine technology and provide them greater opportunities for employment.
