Somerset Community College Students Receive Welding Scholarships

AWS awards

Three Somerset Community College (SCC) students were recently awarded Woodrow Scott Memorial Scholarships from the American Welding Society.

Above, from left, Brittney Anis, of Somerset, Connie Smith, of Nancy and Tim Ashcraft, of Mount Vernon, were each presented with a $500 scholarship by Coy Hall (right), chairman of the Lexington section of the American Welding Society (AWS).

The Woodrow Scott Memorial Scholarship was established by the Scott-Gross Company in honor of the Company Founder, Woodrow Scott.

The scholarships were awarded Thursday, November 20, 2014 during a plant tour of the Link Belt Construction Equipment facilities in Lexington, KY.
