SCC Upward Bound students honored at banquet
The Somerset Community College Upward Bound Program held its annual Banquet and Awards
Dinner on July 23. The students who participated in the Upward Bound Program were
from Casey County, Wayne County, Russell County, Clinton County and Monticello High
School. All students and their families were invited to attend and all who attended
enjoyed seeing what the students had learned and created during their summer focus
theme of Keep It Clean, Go Green.
Students were recognized for their participation and the following students received awards:
Chris Pitman of Monticello, 100% Participation Award
Kayla Atwood of Casey County, 100% Participation Award
Bridgett Davis of Wayne County, Highest Grade Point Average Award
Margaret Elmore of Casey County, Highest Grade Point Average Award
Lacey Bethwith of Russell County, Highest Grade Point Average Award
Allison Withers of Russell County, Highest Grade Point Average Award
Bayle Aaron of Russell County, Highest Grade Point Average Award
Brittany Smith of Clinton County, Highest Grade Point Average Award
Chrissie Dennis of Monticello, Highest Grade Point Average Award
The Upward Bound Program serves high school students who are enrolled in grades 9-12 and meet federal guidelines. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.
