All SCC campuses and centers will be closed Monday, January 21 for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. We will be on normal operating hours Tuesday, January 22.

SCC Print Shop and Public Relations Staff Win Regional Awards

Somerset Community College (SCC) received four awards for outstanding achievement in marketing communications at the recent National Conference for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 2 conference.

SCC received a silver award in the Annual Report category for the Achieve publication, designed and written by Allison Horseman, SCC public relations assistant. Horseman also received a bronze award in the Feature Article/General News Story for the article titled, Airplane donated to SCC, published in The Commonwealth Journal and also published online.

Stuart Simpson, Visual Communication program coordinator, won a bronze award for the design of a flier for the Fruit of the Lens photography club at SCC. The flier was titled Ho! Ho! Hold that Pose!

Also receiving a bronze award was Linda Daugherty, SCC print shop assistant, for her design of The Coffee House poster used by the college.

Horseman, Simpson and Daugherty are part of the Institutional Advancement department at SCC, led by Cindy Clouse, director of advancement.

The Medallion Awards ceremony was part of the NCMPR District 2 conference held
October 26-29 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The NCMPR District 2 Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in communications at community and technical colleges in District 2 and is the only regional competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and PR professionals at two-year colleges. NCMPRs District 2 is comprised of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, The Bahamas and Bermuda.
