Somerset Community College Workforce Solutions offers American Heart Association (AHA) CPR courses. Since 2010, the state of the art CPR Training Center has been available on the SCC Laurel Campus South with qualified instructors who offer the courses in a live classroom setting or an online version. You not only have the option to take a portion of your course online, but you can now choose to learn at your own pace and from the convenience of your own computer. This is a real timesaver for healthcare providers and employees of business and industry who have a busy schedule.
All of the courses follow American Heart Association guidelines. AHA courses are commonly recognized and most often required by many healthcare organizations and businesses. The classroom courses are normally held on the SCC Laurel Campus South or the Somerset Campus but can be held at your business location. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider
This online course offers a flexible training option for busy healthcare professionals. The course allows individuals to complete the cognitive portion of this blended learning course and the written exam at their convenience and is a great time saver for tight schedules. The course offers a convenient, flexible means to provide a fun and challenging way to keep a healthcare provider current on their BLS skills.
Heartsaver CPR with AED and FirstAid
This online course teaches the cognitive aspects of basic FirstAid using a self paced, web-based course. A skills practice session must be scheduled upon completion of the online cognitive portion with an AHA Instructor.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Heartcode ACLS offers an alternative to the traditional course and is the only ACLS eLearning course that provides an AHA ACLS provider certification. This web-based course is an interactive selfdirected learning program which consists of two separate elements, completing the computer based cognitive portion and demonstrating skills to an AHA ACLS instructor during a live skills check off session. Advanced Cardiac Life Support is designed for medical professionals who are typically involved in advanced patient care and treatment.
Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens
This online course is a self-directed eLearning course designed to meet OSHA requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site specific instruction. This course is designed for any person with a reasonable chance for occupational exposure in workplace settings such as industry and manufacturing, Fortune 1500 companies, occupational health, property management, hospitality, security and health and fitness staff. In addition, childcare workers, school personnel, maintenance workers, tattoo artists, and state corrections facilities may be interested in the course due to additional state regulations. No skills test or skills demonstration session required.
