SCC needs volunteers to help create YouTube Series

Have you ever wanted to be a part of a television series? Somerset Community College Theatre is looking for volunteers who are interested in writing, directing, performing, editing and working crew for a proposed YouTube series which will be entitled Summer Falls. Anyone interested in taking part in this ongoing project is urged to attend the February meeting of the Somerset Filmmaking Collective.

The roll out meeting will take place on the SCC Somerset Campus in the Stoner Little Theatre on Sunday, February 13 at 5:30 p.m. The purpose of this initial meeting is to determine the level of interest in the series and to introduce the process required for development and production. Those attending will be asked to sign up for specific areas in which they are interested in taking part.

This past year, the current members of the Somerset Filmmaking Collective have been sharing ideas and information, stated the project producer, Steve Cleberg. I believe its time to start sharing talent and resources to put something creative together.

Cleberg sees this series as an opportunity for experienced filmmakers to work with students and enthusiasts in the creation of a series to be featured on the College Theatre Programs YouTube Channel, SCCDVP. The action of the series will take place on the fictional campus of Summer Falls Community College. Each eight minute episode will comprise an anthology series which will use the Somerset Community College Campus as its setting.

Clebergs vision for the project requires both discipline and creativity, I would like to work with people in the development and creation of a series of episodes which follow the framework of a regular network series but also offers valuable experience as well as a creative outlet for our community.

In order for this project to work, a number of specific steps will need to be followed. Cleberg shared in stating the philosophy he envisions for the overall process of the series. Adherence to a strict formula for each episode must be followed. This series will require diligent organization and planning, however, I believe that the final product will be worth the effort.

If you would like to take part in the development of the series but will be unable to make the roll out meeting on February 13, contact Cleberg by email at Steve.Cleberg@kctcs.edu to express your interest.
