SCC Introduces New Noncredit Online Courses

Somerset Community Colleges Workforce Solutions Department has a program that makes it easy to take high-quality, noncredit online courses. SCC has partnered with ed2go to offer hundreds of online, instructor-led courses and is pleased to announce the launch of several new courses.

The courses are part of SCCs growing catalog of more than 300 instructor-facilitated online courses. Through well-crafted lessons, expert online instruction, and interaction with fellow students, participants in these courses gain valuable knowledge at their convenience. They have the flexibility to study at their own pace combined with enough structure and support to complete the course. And they can access the classroom 24/7 from anywhere with an Internet connection.

New sessions of each course run every month with the next session scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 19. Classes last six weeks with two new lessons released weekly (for a total of 12). The courses are entirely Web-based with comprehensive lessons, quizzes, and assignments. A dedicated professional instructor facilitates every course; pacing learners, answering questions, giving feedback, and facilitating discussions. The cost is $89 per class.

Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint 2010

In these lessons, you'll learn how to use Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 to create impressive slide presentations that include text, objects, SmartArt, multimedia, animation, sound, charts, clip art, and hyperlinks. In addition, you'll discover how to create a PowerPoint photo album with your digital pictures. Introduction to Microsoft Outlook 2010

In this course, you will master the basics of Microsoft Outlook 2010, learning how to manage their email and use Outlook's Contacts, Calendar, and Alert features. You'll also find out how to customize Outlook so it perfectly meets your needs.

Microsoft Excel 2010 in the Classroom

This course, designed especially for teachers, gives you the skills you need to use Excel with ease and confidence. In addition, you'll get teaching tips and standards-based lesson plans and activities so you can pass your Excel knowledge on to students at any grade level. You'll start with the fundamentals: Using tabs, formatting cells and worksheets, inserting formulas for mathematical calculations, and creating colorful charts and graphs.
