SCC and emergency service agencies to conduct Mock Disaster on June 10 at Somerset Campus
Somerset Community College and a host of local emergency service agencies are planning to hold a mock disaster drill on the SCC Somerset Campus from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10.
Under the planned scenario, a shooter will be on Campus and 911 will be called. The situation will escalate with shots fired, and victims will be transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital by ambulances and helicopters. The activity will include assistance from Somerset Police Department, Somerset/Pulaski County EMS, 911, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and other agencies.
Our objective is to measure our ability to deal with an emergency situation at one of our College facilities, said Dr. Jo Marshall, SCC President and CEO. We will be using this drill to make sure that our employees are trained and ready to deal with this type of situation. We appreciate the cooperation of the police, emergency service agencies and Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in helping us to be better prepared.
We also want to notify the public that on Friday, June 10, there will be some abnormal activity on the Somerset Campus and we do not want the public to be concerned, Marshall said. It will just be an exercise.
