Respiratory Therapist Program at SCC Establishes National Honor Society
TheAdvanced-Level Respiratory Therapist Program at Somerset Community College (SCC) recently announced the establishment of the Lambda Beta Society, a national honor society for the profession of respiratory care. This honor society was formed with a purpose to promote, recognize and honor scholarly achievement of students, graduates and faculty members of the profession.
The name of the society is based on the goals of the Respiratory Care profession: sustaining life and breath for all mankind. Lambda (?) is the Greek letter L, and beta (?) is the Greek letter B. The society currently has more than 100 chapters established at Respiratory Care programs throughout the United States.
SCC is excited to induct the first members of this prestigious organization during the Spring 2013 semester. The newest members of the Lambda Beta Society are charter faculty members: Jess Hoskins, Jason Asher, Cindy Fouts, Angie Mills and Caleb Pence. Student inductees: Kendall Jenkins (Corbin), Danny Faulkner (Mt. Vernon), Jeff Steely (London), Jeremy Messer (Corbin) and Shawn Castle (London). The student members must have completed a minimum 50 percent of the Advanced-Level Respiratory Therapist Program curriculum while maintaining their academics in the top 25 percent of their program cohort.
