Coldiron Receives Delta Kappa Gamma ScholarshipHaley Coldiron, a recent Somerset High School graduate, was awarded a $350 scholarship by the Iota Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
Delta Kappa Gamma promotes the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Formed in 1929, its Founders believed that an organization of women teachers, selected from among the best in the profession and united by common purposes, would have an opportunity for rendering real service to education. Delta Kappa Gamma also provides members with fellowship, friendship and support and it offers mentors to women educators, providing mutual support and interaction in all educational fields and at all levels.
The local Delta Kappa Gamma Chapters Professional Affairs/Scholarship Committee consists of SCC Professor Dana Muse, Margaret Mauney, Alfreida Daulton and Polly Sartin.
Coldiron will be a freshman at Somerset Community College this fall, majoring in Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Rick and Melissa Coldiron of Somerset.
