Ceramics Class Will be Offered at SCC McCreary CenterInterested in a career in the visual arts? Or maybe you need a break from the everyday grind of your work, studies, and other responsibilities. Want to try your hand at throwing a pot? A bowl? A vase? Why not enroll this fall in a ceramics class at Somerset Community College.
SCCs Humanities, Fine Arts, and Social Science Division is pleased to announce that a beginning ceramics class (ART 240, 3 hours credit) will be offered at the McCreary Center on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. 6:30 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, August 14, and lasting through the fall semester of 2012. The class is open to all interested students and may be taken for college credit or audited. The fee for either is $140 per credit hour, and for students who live in Scott County, Tennessee, a contiguous county to McCreary, the fee is the same as for in-state students, $140 per hour.
The class will be offered in a state of the art studio equipped with 15 wheels, one kick wheel, three maple tables for hand building, a slab roller, and two electric kilns. The studio and equipment are handicapped accessible and can accommodate 15 or more students at a time.
