Applications are being accepted for new SCC Student Ambassadors
Student Ambassadors are a select group of students who serve in a public relations capacity by representing Somerset Community College in a positive and professional manner at various campus and community events. Applications for new Student Ambassadors will be accepted until April 15. The student must commit to a full academic year, which would be fall 2011 and spring 2012. Students from all campuses and centers should apply to ensure representation from all SCC locations. All Student Ambassadors receive a six hour tuition waiver for each semester they serve.
The responsibilities of a Student Ambassador are to educate prospective students, school groups and the general public on the programs, resources and student life at SCC; represent SCC in a responsible, ethical and professional manner; project a positive image for the College; conduct tours for individuals and groups; encourage fellow students to complete their educations goals; work 40 hours each semester; service as a good role model; and share first hand information about their college experience and provide accurate and useful information to new students.
The qualifications of becoming a Student Ambassadors are: Excellent communication skills, a genuine interest in helping others, ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, ability to speak in front of a group of people, willingness to work a flexible schedule which may consist of some nights and weekends, knowledge of SCC policies and procedures, and maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
