SCC Foundation receives $5,000 for minority scholarships
Published on Feb 3, 2021
New scholarships will be awarded beginning Fall 2021 on behalf of The Clorox Company Foundation and Clorox/Kingsford employees to minority students attending Somerset Community College (SCC).
The Clorox Company has committed to stand strong in their communities to help confront the systemic racial injustices that have plagued our nation for generations. As a part of that commitment, their employees identified organizations in their local communities that can best help drive these desired changes. Somerset Community College Foundation was recognized as an organization that can help accomplish this change.
“We’re excited here at Somerset Community College to receive these new scholarships and appreciative to The Clorox Company Foundation and Clorox/Kingsford employees,” said Dr. Carey Castle, president of SCC. “Their gifts will be used to help students and SCC succeed with our focused goals in diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
Cindy Clouse, SCC vice president of Institutional Advancement commented, “Somerset Community College and the SCC Foundation are always looking for ways to increase the number of scholarships offered to our students. Over 85% of our students receive some type of financial aid. The Clorox Minority Scholarship will be a wonderful addition to help our students achieve a better life for themselves and their families. “
