SCC Online Lifeline: What You Need To Know About Blackboard
Published on Jan 10, 2019
Somerset Community College (SCC) will host an in-person Online Lifeline Blackboard orientation on Saturday, January 19. The event is open to all current SCC students and will be held at both the Somerset Campus and the Laurel Campus.
Check-in and walk-in registration begin at 9 a.m. and continues until 12 noon. Students are welcome to come anytime during the three-hour window and stay as long as they like. A welcome from school administrators will be held at 9:15 a.m.
The orientation will be held on the Somerset Campus in the Cooper Building, rooms 109 and 110. The Laurel Campus event will be held in Building 2, rooms 210 and 211. SCC’s Student Ambassadors will be present to provide directions.
During the orientation, students will learn about tips on how to use Blackboard, SCC’s learning management system for online classes. Discussion and question/answer sessions will be held about Blackboard with student ambassadors, faculty and staff. Students can get help setting up their email accounts, possibly meet some of their online instructors and have face to face help navigating thru Blackboard.
If you have any questions about the Blackboard orientation, you may contact Kevin Bradford at the Laurel Campus at 606-878-4718 or Jon Burlew at 606-451-6748 at the Somerset Campus. Students are encouraged to bring their laptop to the orientation, but it is not a requirement. Computers will be available for use.
Refreshments will be provided. SCC wants to help you succeed, and we are here to encourage and help you to be well prepared for the semester ahead. Spring semester classes begin Monday, January 14.
