SCC Laurel Campus International Festival to be held October 18 in London

The Somerset Community College (SCC) Laurel Campus International Festival, an annual event that introduces attendees to numerous culinary, art, educational and musical experiences from around the globe, will be held Wednesday, October 18 in London. The event is free and open to the public.

The SCC Laurel Campus International Festival’s theme is “Building Bridges.” The event will feature presentations on various countries and cultures, as well as musical performances. SCC Culinary Arts chefs will provide tastes of Spain, Poland and Egypt and special sessions on international travel opportunities will be held.

The SCC Laurel North Campus, where events will be held, is located at 100 University Drive in London.

Morning sessions on International Culture

9 a.m.: The People and Culture of Uganda presented by SCC student Katelyn Hughes

9:30 a.m.: Russian Culture presented by Mark Bondarenko

Morning Musical Performance

10 a.m.: Jacob Hamrick, of Sogo Drums, Presenting a Demonstration and Discussion on Ghanaian Drums

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Multiple Locations in the Health Sciences Building (Building 3)

A Taste of Spain, Poland, and Egypt presented by SCC Culinary Arts students under the direction of Chef Michael Wells and Chef Ed Nazario

Through the Eyes of a Cosmetologist: Egypt, Japan, Mexico, Jamaica, South Africa, United States, and Greece  presented by SCC Cosmetology students under the direction of Kay Swanner
