"Shades of Green" Theme Chosen for Annual SCC Earth Day Photography Contest; Cash Prize Offered
Participants in SCC’s Earth Day photography contest will only have to enjoy the beauty of spring to find inspiration for their images. This year's theme, “Shades of Green,” has entrants’ focusing on the primary color of the season as a major ingredient in their photos. The images may also include animals and/or people and should be taken in south-central Kentucky.
The grand prize for the “Nash Black Photography Awards” is $100. Cash awards of $50, $25 and $15 will also be presented. Deadline to enter the contest is Sunday, April 8. (Complete contest rules are available by visiting “Fruit of the Lens Photography Club” on Facebook.)
The college’s Fruit of the Lens photography club sponsors the contest with funding support from SCC’s PRIDE club.
The annual photography awards honors Irene Black and Ford Nashett. The Russell County couple, who write under the pen name “Nash Black,” are founding members of the photography club.
Winners will be recognized at the SCC/East Kentucky PRIDE Earth Day Celebration on Sunday, April 15. The celebration will be held at SCC’s Somerset Campus from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
How to enter:
Those entering may submit up to three images and there is no age limit. Submissions are being accepted until Sunday, April 8 at 11:59 p.m. There is no charge for entering the photography contest.
Each submission needs to be approximately one megabyte (1 MB) in size, and contain no watermarks, names or time stamps. Photos submitted by professional photographers will be disqualified as will any images manipulated in programs such as Photoshop. (Normal image adjustments are perfectly acceptable).
Email your entries to email@example.com. Subject line for each entry should be “Photo Contest” and the email should contain a name for the photo and contact information of the photographer.
