Meet Rosetta

portraitMy role at Somerset Community College: I am the Administrative Assistant of Applied Technology for Laurel Campus South and I assist with orientation and advising for the technical programs. In addition, I teach Work Place Principles (WPP 200) each semester.

How long I’ve worked here: Since 2005.

Why I do what I do: The position of Administrative Assistant for Laurel Campus South allows me to direct our students on the path to achieve their educational goals. I try to welcome students and visitors alike with a smile and a hand shake. Each day brings a new adventure, and no two days are ever the same. As an Administrative Assistant, I have the opportunity to assist the students with their questions and concerns. More importantly, I encourage the students to continue with their educational journey and be proud of their accomplishments.

My philosophy: I feel that as an employee of Somerset Community College and KCTCS, I should strive to improve my personal and career oriented goals, which in turn will influence students to set their personal and professional goals, while enhancing their skills as needed for job preparation and their ability to be successful. I plan to continue my own education by completing advanced degrees of study.

I like our students because: It is a joy to see SCC students each semester as they bring with them the goals and dreams of obtaining an education and enhancing their work skills. I like the diversity of our students and watching them connect with the technical program of their choice.

A little more about me: After a lay off from employment of thirteen years, I attended SCC and graduated with an AAS of Office Technology Degree. My employment at SCC Laurel Campus South began in July of 2005. I have continued my education while employed with SCC and my goal is to complete my PhD of Education.
