At the age of 28 years old I gave birth to my one and only child that weighed 1 pound and 15 ounces. During having my son I had also left my abusive husband. So as you can see I had a lot going on. Over the years my son (Blake) grew and we had some obstacles to overcome but we did it. Well the idea of me going back to college crossed my mind but then I thought I am too old. I had been out of school for 24 years! After talking to my mother who gave me the encouragement to just go out to the college and see what they have to offer, I finally did it. The staff in the financial aid office is WONDERFUL! Well I survived the first week of college and my verdict on that week was I "LOVED IT!" I'm looking forward to the "Spring 2010" semester because I have now picked accounting as my major. When I do graduate I will feel that I am ready for the work world. Another thing I learned is that you are never too old to learn, heck look at me I'm 42 years old and I am learning everyday. If anybody reads this I just want them to know that education is for everybody and "You can do it!"
