This video instructs you on how to view the Academic Programs offered here at Maysville Community and Technical College.  We offer several programs of study such as Engineering, Math, Nursing, Power Plant Operations, Welding, Liberal Arts and college Transfer Credits.   From the Maysville Community and Technical College home webpage, in the middle of your screen you will see a dark blue area this ribbon are the choices that are offered to you to navigate within the Maysville Community and Technical College home webpage.  You can view various information offered at Maysville Community and Technical College such as Academic information, Admissions, Costs and Financial Aid, Workforce Solutions, News and Events. 

From the Maysville Community and Technical College home webpage, you’ll need to select Academic headings.  Select Academic headings by placing your cursor over the heading and clicking on it using your mouse.  This will now take you to the Academics home webpage.  The purple menu located on the left side of your screen allows you to learn about our Academic programs such as Adult Education, our Bookstore, Programs of Study, Class Schedules, Academic Calendar, the Library, our Tutor Lab, Distance Learning, Academic Records for Students and Transfer Credits.  We offer here at Maysville Community and Technical College various Associate Degrees, Certificate Programs and Diplomas. 

For this video we are going to look at various Programs of Study that we offer here at Maysville Community and Technical College.  Select from the Academics menu, Programs of Study by placing your cursor over it and selecting Programs of Study using your mouse.  A drop down menu now appears below Programs of Study showing you various programs we offer here at Maysville Community and Technical College.  The programs are also displayed in the center of your screen.  Scroll down until you see an Academic program that you are interested in.  In our example we are going to select Information Technology which is where our computer courses are listed.  We place our cursor over Information Technology’s heading and then select it using our mouse.  You will now be taken to the Information Technology home webpage.  You are given some information about Information Technology such as the different areas you can major in, what are some of the opportunities available to graduates of this program.  In Information Technology we offer an Associate in Applied Science and Programming, Database Administration, Information Security and other computer related subjects.  We also offer certification in Microsoft Networking, Oracle Database Administration, Web Administrator and many other programs as well.  Each program lists the number of class hours you can anticipate taking in order to get your degree or certificate in the program of your choice. 

The Information Technology Academic Program webpage gives you some background information such as job opportunities that are available to students majoring in these programs.  The webpage then goes on to tell you what the admissions requirements are for gaining entrance into each program. Listed under each area of study at Maysville Community and Technical College is the name and contact information for students seeking more information about each major.  In this case, Terry Pasley is the contact for Information Technologies.  Please feel free to contact the person who’s listed in your program of study if you would like further information about the program or you would like to enroll in this program.

Let’s take a look at a particular program that’s being offered by the Information Technology’s division.  In this case we’ll look at Computer Programming.  Place your cursor over the Computer Programming heading Information Technologies, located under the Associates in Applied Science and select it, using your mouse.  The Associates in Applied Science for Computer Programming is now displayed.  Note that in order to get your degree in Computer Programming, you’ll need to complete 70 – 73 credit hours.  After you select Computer Programming a question box will be displayed asking if you would like to open or save the file.  In this case, we are choosing just to open the file.  A Word document will now display.  This lists required and elective classes you can take to receive a degree in Computer Programming.  We suggest you print this out and keep it as a guideline for you to be able to keep track of the classes you have successfully taken and the classes you still need to take.  This will help you when it comes to registering for your classes each semester.
