Welcome to how to view your Academic Record. This video will walk you through the steps necessary to view your Academic Record. The Academic Record includes getting an unofficial copy of your transcripts, viewing either your COMPASS scores or your ACT scores, view your current advisor or view your grades or find out what your Cumulative GPA is. From Maysville Community and Technical College home page, you will select Student Self-service from the top right-hand menu as highlighted here. This is done by placing your cursor over the heading Student Self-service and selecting it using your mouse. This will now take you to the KCTCS Campus Solution home webpage. You will notice in the center of your screen there are two boxes for you to type in. The first box asks you to enter your Username. This was issued to you by Maysville Community and Technical College when you were admitted to the college. Our student’s name is John Student and he is typing in jstudent0001. Once this is entered, press the tab key to move to the next field. Here he is being asked to type his password. He will type in his password he created when he activated his KCTCS email account and then you can either press enter on your keyboard or move your cursor to the Sign In box and clicking on it using your mouse. If you forgot what your Username is or you forgot your Password, move your cursor to the sentence below the sign-in box where it asks you if you forgot your Username or Password. Select it using your mouse. You will then be taken to another website that will assist you in locating your Username and/or your Password.
You are now taken to your student center. The first item you want to look at and confirm is does the Student Center display your name. In this case it should display John’s Student Center at the top of the screen. If the name that appears on the screen is not yours, please contact Student Services. Their contact information can be found at the end of this video.
Located on the left-hand side of the screen is the Menu that includes the heading Self-Service. By placing your cursor over the Self-Service heading and selecting it using your mouse, the menu below it now expands. Under the Self-Service heading choosing Academic Records by placing your cursor over the Academic Records heading and selecting it using your mouse, you are now taken to the Academics Record home page. You can view Legacy Grades – those are grades students have achieved for prior attendance at Maysville Community and Technical College; view your unofficial transcript – this gives you the classes you’ve taken, the grades you’ve received, the Cumulative Grade Point average, more commonly known as the GPA. You can view your ACT scores or your COMPASS scores; you can view who your advisor is and view your grades.
Let’s start by looking to see if John has any Legacy grades. Move your cursor to either View My Legacy Grades icon located in the center of your screen or to the drop-down menu listed on the left-hand side of your screen, and then select either one, using your mouse. If you previously attended Maysville Community and Technical College several years ago your classes and grades will be posted here. In this case, John does not have any Legacy grades so this is probably his first degree he has sought from the college. To return to Academics Records main page, just touch on Academic Records located in the menu on the left-hand side of your screen. Select it using your mouse. This will take you back to the Academic Records home webpage.
Next, let’s take a look at how to attain an unofficial copy of your transcripts. For an official copy of your transcripts, contact Maysville Community and Technical College’s Student Services Department. Their contact information is displayed at the end of this video. Select from the drop-down menu located on the left-hand side of your screen View Unofficial Transcript by placing your cursor over it and selecting it using your mouse. This will take you to the Unofficial Transcript Request form. Your name will be displayed at the top of the screen. You will now need to choose your Academic Institution from the drop-down menu. In this case, choose KCTCS by selecting it using your mouse.
Next choose the Report Type. In this case, choose Student Self-Service view from the drop-down menu by selecting it with your mouse. Then select the go box by placing your cursor over the green box with go written in it and selecting it using your mouse. This will now take you to the unofficial copy of your transcript. The unofficial copy of your transcript lists all the classes you have taken and the grade you received from each class as well as your accumulative GPA. You can print a copy of this transcript for your personal records, but this is not an official copy of your transcript. To request an official copy of your transcript, please contact our Student Services Department. Their contact information is provided at the end of this video. To return to the Academics Record home page, move your cursor to the Academics Records menu located on the left-hand side of your screen and select it using your mouse.
Now let’s take a look at how to view your test scores. Simply place your cursor over the View My Test Scores and select it using your mouse. You are now taken to a screen that lists your test scores. This will list the tests you have taken. In John’s case he took the ACT and it shows he got a Math score of 18 and an English score of 21. This can be helpful information when transferring to another college because typically, they ask for these scores on their applications. To return to the Academics Records home page, move your cursor to the Academics Records menu located on the left-hand side of the screen and select it using your mouse.
Let’s take a look at how to view your advisor. Move your cursor to View My Advisor icon either in the drop-down menu or by selecting it in the icon in the middle of your screen and then select either the title heading or the icon by using your mouse. It should tell you who your advisor is. If not, check with our Master Advising team or your division office to find out what the name of your advisor is.
Next, let’s view your grades. Move your cursor to the drop-down menu located on the left-hand side of your screen and place your cursor over View My Grades. Notice you do not have to return to the Academic Record home screen between each selection. You will need to select the semester for which you would like to view your grades for. This is done by selecting the radio button in front of the semester you would like to view your grades for. In this case, we are going to look at the grade John got for his summer courses. We see that he took Calculus and received a grade of “B” for this course. We suggest you review your Academic Records frequently to ensure your grades are posted properly.
