What is APA Format? You may be enrolled in a course in which the instructor has issued an assignment that requires you to write a paper using APA formatting. APA stands for American Psychological Association, and the APA style is an editorial style that many of the social and behavioral sciences have adopted to present written material in the field. You can easily download a template for a paper that is formatted with the APA style using Microsoft Word. After you have opened Microsoft Word, create a new document from the File menu, as demonstrated here. In the Search bar, use your keyboard to type the letters “APA” and select the Search button with your mouse. You will be presented with results that are examples of documents that use APA formatting. You can view the information about each of these by selecting a template with your mouse. It is recommended that you only download a template from a trusted source, such as the template we have chosen here, provided by the Microsoft Corporation. Remember that it is your responsibility as a student to make sure that the template you choose is accurate and follows the correct APA Format guidelines. Please contact your instructor with questions regarding proper formatting. You may then download and open the template by using your mouse to click the download button, as shown here. The template displayed has been accurately formatted in the APA Style. The downloaded template can be edited and saved to include the content that you have written for your paper. If you would like further assistance and information about the APA style, you can visit the American Psychological Association’s website at www.apa.org. Or you can visit Maysville Community and Technical College’s Library homepage located at maysville.kctcs.edu/Academics/Library.aspx, and follow the link for MLA & APA Style Guides Help. We hope that this video has been informative, and helpful to you as a student of Maysville Community and Technical College.
