SCC Student Newspaper Wins Awards

“The Bridge,” the student newspaper at Somerset Community College (SCC), was recently honored by the Kentucky Intercollegiate Press Association (KIPA) for excellence in multiple areas. The newspaper captured 16 awards, including three first place honors, in twelve categories.

Competing against SCC for awards were Transylvania University, Kentucky State University, Lindsey Wilson College and Georgetown College. Papers published in 2012 were judged.

“The Bridge” was led by Matt Attaway, the Spring semester 2012 managing editor, and Cynthia Turner, the Fall semester 2012 managing editor. Turner currently serves as editor of the paper. Faculty advisors for the paper are Jeff Harris and Stuart Simpson.
