MCTC Culinary Offering Courses for Community Members and Professionals

Maysville Community and Technical College’s Maysville Institute of Culinary Arts is offering a tasty array of culinary classes designed to broaden your culinary skills and enhance your cultural knowledge while giving your taste buds something worthwhile.  All classes will be held at the institute located at 2 East Third Street in downtown Maysville. 

Add some pizazz to your cake decorating flair on Thursday evenings, October 4 – 25, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Perfect your flower making, the basket weave, and other decorating techniques used by professionals.  The cost to attend is $59 and includes an individual kit. 

Join Chef Lesak and Bill Sanders on Monday, October 8, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. to learn how to make cheese from scratch in your own kitchen.  Bill Sanders will provide tips on finding that perfect wine to complement your homemade cheese.  The cost to attend is $35.

Culinary professionals have an opportunity to learn how to create simple healthy and tasty meal alternatives  through proper ingredient selections, cooking techniques, and seasoning on Wednesday, October 10, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  The cost to attend is $40.

Tour the flavors and culinary origins of France on Tuesday, October 16 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.  The cost to attend is $25.

Give your mind and mouth a taste of Japan on Tuesday, October 23, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.  Guests will learn how to combine sweet, salty, sour, and savory flavors into the same dish.

Get a taste of the spices and dishes found in the horn of Africa, including cumin, cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves, on Tuesday, October 30, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m..  The cost to attend is $25. 

Take an aromatic stroll through Spanish herbs and spices on Tuesday, November 13, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.  This class will explore many of the timeless secrets unique to Spain that are now used by popular chefs and cooking magazines.  The cost to attend is $25. 

Enjoy a tour of France’s Rhone Valley by the glass on Thursday, November 15, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Bill Sanders will guide your senses through some of the most pleasurable wines in the world.  The cost to attend is $25.
