Maysville Community & Technical College will offer the EMT-B class beginning August 18, 2014.  The class will meet on M, W, & Th from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. 

To be eligible for this class you must take a TABE test and score on the 10th grade level in Math & English and at the 11th grade level in Reading. (This test is free and can be scheduled with our Adult Ed department. You may reach them at 606-759-7141 Ext. 66123 to schedule your test).  If you have taken a recent COMPASS test you will need to get a copy of those scores and bring to our office.  You must also be CPR certified before the first class.  We will offer a CPR class the first week of August.  Phone 759-7141, ext. 66120 if you need this class, deadline to register for CPR class is July 21, 2014.   


Two (2) weeks prior to the start date of class our office must have: A completed application, a copy of your driver’s license, and a copy of your high school diploma or GED diploma.  This is mandatory and we must have these copies.   Below is a list of fees that you will be responsible for.


Class tuition:  $906.00

Book (Emergency Medical Technician, McGraw Hill by:  Barbara Aehlert) Second Edition

$11 - Liability insurance (Paid with tuition at the time of registration.).

$10 – KBEMS initial application fee

$2 – Aids update certification (Miles will be administering this)

$30 – EMT certification (After completion of course work)

$50 – Written testing fee (After completion of course work)

Kentucky certification or licensure requires a background check from Verified Credentials.

Background checks must be received in our office by October 1, 2014.


There will also be a fee for the Practical Test that is divided up between the class participants after completion of course work and misc. supplies you’ll need. Your instructor will explain this to you the first night of class.
