This video will take you through the steps on how to order your books for classes at Maysville Community & Technical College online. From the Maysville Community & Technical College home webpage you will be able to access our bookstore online. Select the academics link located in the blue ribbon in the middle of your screen by moving your cursor to academics and using your mouse to select this link. This will now take you to the academics home webpage. For the menu listed under academics, the menu with the purple background, move your cursor to the heading entitled bookstore and then select the bookstore heading using your mouse. This takes you to the Maysville Community & Technical College bookstore home website. This is where all books for all classes are available prior to each semester. The bookstore also has a variety of Maysville Community Technical College clothing, computers and supplies for students who are attending class. Under the current student's menu you can find links to the MCTC, easy refund program, the bookstore and the bookstore staff.
Let's take a look at who's on the bookstore staff by moving your cursor to the bookstore staff heading in the menu located on the left hand side of your screen and selecting it using your mouse. The bookstore manager at Maysville is Kaye High; Susan Schumacher is the store supervisor and Mary Ann Doyle is the part-time bookseller. The bookstore at Rowan is staffed by Jeannie Bradley, and the Licking Valley campus is staffed by Debbie Gill. Look for contact information at the end of this video presentation. To go back to the bookstore homepage move your cursor to the MCTC bookstore link located in the menu on the left hand side of your screen and select it using your mouse. There are two ways you can purchase books from the store. The first way is to take your schedule and go to the bookstores and let them assist you in getting your book.
The second way is to order your books online. If you read the text on the MCTC bookstore webpage, you will see in the last sentence highlighted in blue it reads www.yourschoolyourbookstore.com. Move your cursor to this point and select this link by using your mouse to select it. This takes you to the online bookstore service for Maysville Community & Technical College. You'll be asked a series of questions that need to be answered in order to narrow down the correct books for your class. The first question asks you to put in the state in which your school is located. Move your cursor over the dropdown area and select Kentucky. The next question is what is the name of your school. Moving your cursor to the dropdown arrow select KCTCS and press enter. You are now taken to another screen. This screen will give you tips on buying and selling a textbook. On this screen you will need to select a bookstore for the dropdown menu located on the left hand side of your screen. Select Maysville CTC for the Maysville campus or Maysville CTC Rowan for the Rowan campus or Distance Learning if you're taking online courses from the dropdown menu and press enter on your keyboard. This will now take you to the Maysville Community & Technical College's bookstore home webpage.
Before ordering books you'll need to have your class schedule. This will give you the information that will help you in ordering your books. You will need to know the department, the class section, the course name, et cetera, and this can be found on our class schedule. Select textbooks from the dark blue ribbon located towards the top of your screen by placing your cursor over the title textbooks and using your mouse to select on the selection. This will take you to the customized textbook list. From the dropdown menu located on the left hand side of your screen, start with one and select the term on which you're purchasing the book for by placing your cursor on the dropdown menu next to select term. In this example we are choosing spring of 2010. Next select the department by moving your cursor to the dropdown menu number two located on the left hand side of your screen. In this example we're choosing PY for the psychology department. You will then need to select the course number. All the information can be obtained from your class schedule. In this example we are choosing 110 for psychology 110. Then question number four wants you to select the section number on this example. Our section number is 9002. The course is now listed on the right hand side of your screen. You will then want to repeat steps one through four for each class you're taking or to view the classes you selected textbooks for you can click on the view textbook list by moving your cursor to the box titled view textbook list and select it using your mouse. This will now take you to a screen entitled Your Course Materials. It lists the book's title, the author and the publisher. This is the book your instructor has chosen for your class. Sometimes there are used books available. You can either purchase new or used books. You will need to select the items you want to add to your shopping cart by selecting the add to cart box located under your textbooks list by moving your cursor to the add to cart box and selecting it using your mouse. This will take you to the next screen and it asks you a very important question below your list of textbooks. It asks you if your instructor updates the book selection for this class; do you want your order changed with the updated material--answer yes or no. In this case this student would like to purchase just this textbook so they are selecting no. Typically you would answer yes that way if the textbook is changed you will receive the new textbook.
You are now given the subtotal for your order. To checkout and purchase your books you need to checkout this is done by placing your cursor over the checkout box and selecting it using your mouse. The next screen will take you into either login if you're a returning customer or to check out as a guest and not set up a login account. In our example a student wants to set up an account because he intends to get his associate's degree and he will be returning to Maysville Community & Technical College for summer, fall next year. So he's going to scroll down and select register by moving his cursor to the register box and select it using his mouse. Next you will need to enter your registration information. Move your cursor to the first field, type in your first name then press the tab key. Type in your last name then press the tab key. Type in your daytime phone number then press the tab key. Type in your e-mail address then press the tab key. Type in your cell phone number if you have one then press the tab key. Type in your password then press the tab key. Type in your password for the second time and then press the tab key. Select the type of password hint. John is going to select his first school, press the tab key, type the answer. John is typing Straub; press the tab key. Type in the captcha word then press continue to go on to the next page. Next you are asked to enter shipping and payment information. You can either perform a store pickup or have the order shipped to you. If you want it shipped to you, you'll need to fill out the shipping information then scroll down and enter your payment method. If you're using financial aid, enter your student ID number and then press the continue button by placing your cursor over and select it using your mouse. The final step will be to verify your order. And now you've placed your order for your books.
